Dr Disrespect admits that Twitch ban was due to sharing ‘inappropriate’ messages with a minor

Twitch never pubicly revealed the reason for the ban

LAST week, allegations surfaced concerning world-famous streamer, Herschel ‘Dr Disrespect’ Beahm, and the reason he was banned from Twitch.

Beahm was suddenly banned from the streaming platform in 2020, after making an eight-figure deal with the company.

Twitch never pubicly revealed the reason for the ban

The streamer initially claimed he was unaware of the reason for the ban, and later stated that he was “not allowed to say anything for the last several years”.

In 2022, Beahm and Twitch reached a settlement in which neither party admitted wrongdoing, and it appeared the incident was settled.

A former Twitch moderator recently came forward with evidence that Beahm had been banned from the platform for sharing ‘inappropriate’ messages with a minor.

Two days after the allegations surfaced, Midnight Society, the studio that Beahm co-founded, announced that it would be parting ways with the streamer.

The tweet reads: “We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved.

“And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act.

“For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately.”

Studio head Robert Bowling later followed this up saying, “This is a statement from me personally.

“It does not reflect any of my companies and has not gone through any legal or PR approvals.

“If you inappropriately message a minor. I can not work with you.”

There was still speculation surrounding the situation with Dr Disrespect’s Twitch ban until The Doc admitted to the messages in his own words.

Beahm’s statement reads: “Were there Twitch Whisper messages [Twitch’s version of DMs] with an individual minor back in 2017? The answer is yes.

“Were there real intentions behind these messages, the answer is absolutely not.

“These were casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate, but nothing more.

“Let me be clear, it was not a criminal case against me and no criminal charges have ever been brought against me.

“Now, from a moral standpoint I’ll absolutely take responsibility. I should have never entertained these conversations to begin with. That’s on me.

“That’s on me as an adult, a husband and a father. It should have never happened. I get it. I’m not perfect. This was stupid.”

Dr Disrespect came under fire for the statement, specifically for removing the word ‘minor’ in an edit, before editing it back in.

Many people were disappointed by Beahm’s statement and immediately took to Twitter to express how they felt.

One user wrote: “Having a daughter yourself and still talking to a minor is wild to me.”

Famous YouTuber MoistCritikal said: “That’s actually shocking. Confirming messaging a minor inappropriately but saying there wasn’t any real intent is almost verbatim what people used to say to Chris Hansen.”

Despite this a few hardcore fans claim they will stick by Dr Disrespect, pointing out that he hasn’t done anything illegal.
