SUNDAY 3:50 PM SEPTEMBER 29, 2024 PARIS
On Sunday afternoon, guests found themselves in a gauzy bohemian fantasy at the Valentino SS25 show, the first under the auspices of the label’s new creative director, Alessandro Michele. Sitting on armchairs cloaked in white sheets atop a floor of cracked mirrored tiles, they watched models proceed down a makeshift runway in a grand celebration of excess: there were ruffles, turbans, brocades, bows, veils, polka dots, fringe, and copious amounts of lace. “When we build beauty,” read the show notes, “it feels like being raptured in a state of joy that can tear us away from senselessness.” Once the lamps dimmed, our editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg tracked down attendees—including actors Hari Nef and Colman Domingo and writer-director Jane Schoenbrun—to find out the most Parisian thing about them.
