Wombo returns with a bold new single and video, ‘S.T. Tilted,’ released today as the final preview of their new album Danger in Fives, out this Friday via Fire Talk Records.
‘S.T. Tilted’ captures the Louisville trio at their most distilled, with Cameron Lowe’s wiry, off-kilter guitar riffs colliding with Sydney Chadwick’s hypnotic vocals and Joel Taylor’s minimalist percussion. The song is a sonically adventurous, genre-melding offering that nods to both Limp Bizkit and Eric B. & Rakim, bringing post-punk, hip-hop, and alt-rock references into the band’s singular orbit.
The track arrives with a music video directed by Lowe and constructed alongside Chadwick, featuring a handmade waiting room set built in Chadwick’s garage. It’s another entry in a growing list of meticulously self-produced visuals from Danger in Fives, reinforcing the trio’s DIY ethos and creative vision.
“It’s the first song we wrote after the Slab EP that made it on Danger in Fives. We weren’t sure it was going to work, but all the contrasting parts ended up being cool. It’s rare for a Wombo song to be written on guitar first like this one, with some of the bass and drum parts jammed out in the basement afterwards. The wacky guitar part came last.”
To mark the album release, Wombo will play a special hometown show at Whirling Tiger in Louisville on August 8. From September through November, they’ll embark on a full-scale tour of the US, UK, and EU, with dates in major cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, London, Berlin, and more.
With Danger in Fives, Wombo once again redefine their boundaries, offering something wholly their own. And with ‘S.T. Tilted,’ they set the tone for an era of bold experimentation, uncompromising energy, and art that is unmistakably theirs.
