A woman in California says she will never go back to Chipotle after what she found in her chip.

Over the weekend, Kaylee (@kaylee.daniellee) popped in to a Chipotle for a bite to eat. As she was munching on chips, something shiny caught her eye. Kaylee looked closer and was flabbergasted by what she saw.

“Look what I just found in my Chipotle chip. It’s a frickin’ piece of metal,” she says in a TikTok. “It’s through the chip.”

She was even more appalled because if she hadn’t looked down at the right moment, she could have eaten the chip.

“I almost took a bite of it,” she says, adding, “See how it’s through the chip? This is insane.”

In her video, Kaylee holds a chip in front of what appears to be a Chipotle bag. The bag reads, “Handcrafted chips made fresh every day.”

As the camera zooms in and focuses, you can see a thin piece of metal protruding from the chip. It looks to be about an inch long.

It’s enough to put Kaylee off Chipotle for life. The text overlay on her post reads, “Never eating Chipotle again.”

She doesn’t identify the specific Chipotle where this allegedly occurred. The post tags San Jose, California.

Food Fails

Finding something inedible in food is a common complaint among restaurant-goers. In these situations, often a customer gets a refund or the dish remade, sometimes both. Usually the item found poses no risk to the customer other than a major case of the ick, particularly if they didn’t spot it before biting.

Finding a piece of metal in a Chipotle chip would be one of those rare occasions that the foreign object could potentially cause some harm. The chain did not respond to an emailed inquiry from BroBible sent Tuesday morning.

Unsurprisingly, Kaylee swiftly reported her purported find—or at least tried to. In the caption on her post, she tags Chipotle and writes, “Tried to contact the store/customer service and can’t get ahold of a human. Do better.”

One person offered a suggestion for getting a rapid response.

“Call the location again, when the recording ask what you are calling about say ‘I am an employee and would like to speak to a manager,’” a user named Mia advised. “It will connect you to the store right away!!”

Another shared what they purportedly found in a Chipotle order.

“One time I found a whole NAIL (like the tool) in my pollo loco tostada and all they did was ask if I wanted another one,” they wrote.

A third had an idea about where a piece of metal could have come from.

“It’s from the basket the chips are dipped and fried in,” they opined. “Guaranteed it [hasn’t] been replaced in ages.”

Kaylee did not immediately respond to BroBible’s direct message sent Tuesday morning.
