One Bachelorette fan posted a video on X of their television screen, showing Jenn Tran, 26, meeting her first suitor – a veteran named Marcus – with no voice audio.

The closed captions on the premiere episode were on and working.

“@DenverChannel Hi! – I am trying to watch the Bachelorette on YouTube TV and there is no audio. Just music – CC works fine but there is no voice audio,” they posted.

Another viewer posted a message to The Bachelorette and ABC, complaining that they were facing technical difficulties watching the show on Hulu.

“@BacheloretteABC hello Bachelorette, I am watching from Denver, CO on Hulu TV. There is no audio for the dialogue. We can hear the background music, and the talking on commercials. But no dialogue from the show. What gives?” they asked.

“My Hulu out here NOT serving. @BacheloretteABC doesn’t have sound/audio/it’s only background music and I am SUFFERING. We deserve better than this,” a third fan complained.

“Is anyone else watching the Bachelorette on YouTube TV and it’s only showing the background sound like no vocals,” another Bachelorette viewer asked on social media.

“MY BACHELORETTE HAS NO SOUND WHAT DO I DO,” a fifth person posted.

BACHELORETTE BAD GUY

Those who did get to hear the early introductions to Jenn’s cast of hopeful suitors had a lot to say about one man in particular.

Bachelorette fans are convinced suitor Sam N. is this season’s ‘villain’ after odd introduction & rage ‘he’s gotta go!’

Sam N., an entrepreneur from Carlsbad, California, was among the first men to get to meet Jenn on the Season 21 premiere.

The West Coast businessman touted himself as a family man, noting that he had never had a girlfriend and was looking to date for marriage.

Fans were initially taken by Sam, who was dressing a slick suit with his hair carefully styled and noticeably long eyelashes.

Upon meeting him, Jenn noted the latter, complimenting him on the look of his lashes.

Producers aired footage of Sam curling them, which amused viewers.

Many, however, suggested that Sam appeared to them to be a front-runner for the upcoming season’s villain.

Sam didn’t say much early in the premiere, but Bachelorette viewers still felt there was something villainous about him.

One Bachelorette viewer tweeted an old TikTok clip the suitor shared on social media before his appearance on the show.

It showed him giving an unidentified woman a necklace.

“POV: Me watching her through the necklace I gave her in case we ever break up,” text over the video read.

The fan who shared it added, “Sam N. has been a villain to me since I saw this video on Bachelor Reddit.”

“Me knowing that Sam [N] is gonna be a villain but as of right now, I’m attracted to him,” another viewer posted on X.

“Sam [N]…something about him…screams this season villain,” a third Bachelorette fan tweeted.

“Sam’s gotta go. Get him the f**k out IMMEDIATELY,” a fourth critic demanded.

MAKING HIS MARK

Sam was introduced to Bachelorette viewers before the new season of The Bachelorette aired.

In it, he and Jenn were seen enjoying a romantic date night.

Sam had an important question for Jenn during the outing and asked it in an adorable way.

Jenn knelt on one knee in the clip, turning away from Sam.

“I want to show you how serious I am,” he began.

In a confessional interview, Sam admitted that he had been waiting for this moment his “whole life.”

Jenn appeared to be choking back tears as she turned around to see Sam holding a handmade sign that read, “Jenn, will you be my first girlfriend?”

NOT EXCITED

In addition to critiques about technical difficulties, and speculation about Sam’s intentions, The Bachelorette Season 21 on the whole has been a subject of major critique.

Although Jenn’s appearance as the show’s lead is historic, with her being the first Asian lead, viewers were disappointed that Maria Georgas and Daisy Kent weren’t selected as this season’s lead.

Both women previously stated on different podcasts that ABC approached them about starring on the show but they declined.

Fans discussed the upcoming season of The Bachelorette on X, with many claiming they weren’t looking forward to it.

“Is this the most anticipated season of The Bachelorette since Hannah B. was the lead?!” one person wondered.

“Man, this is the least anticipated season in years and years. It started off when the crowd favorite didnt accept, now the marketing has been quiet. I hope she surprises us all with a great season,” another viewer claimed.
