The Britpop icons have secretly agreed a deal to return for a series of UK concerts next summer.

Now, two US bands have hinted that they will be the supporting acts for Oasis.

The band, Weezer, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to congratulate Oasis on their reunion.

Weezer wrote: “Welcome back Oasis, we like you too.”

One fan then commented: “Do you like Weezer?”

And Oasis’ Liam Gallagher replied: “Yeah”

The band Smashing Pumpkins also shared their excitement about the reunion on X.

Their post simply read: “Yeah!”

Fans flocked to Reddit to discuss the possibility of Oasis featuring Weezer and Smashing Pumpkins as supporting acts.

One user wrote: “I saw a video of the Smashing Pumpkins trying to make jokes about Oasis at their show last night.

“It was in good fun, I think Noel supported the Pumpkins a couple of years ago in their NA tour.

“An Oasis and Smashing Pumpkins NA tour would be cool. But a part of me doesn’t think Liam and Billy could co-exist.”

Liam and Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins have previously had a public feud.

The tensions between them became well-known in the late 1990s.

The feud reportedly began when Liam made comments about Billy and his band.

Billy responded with his own criticisms, and the rivalry continued with both musicians exchanging barbs through interviews and in the press.

A second Reddit user wrote: “I saw Noel open for Smashing Pumpkins in Charlotte a few years ago. I was there for Noel but the Pumpkins were awesome,” suggesting that the bands are no longer feuding.

A third Reddit user entertaining the idea wrote: “Smashing Pumpkins is a Chicago band and Weezer is out of Los Angeles. I wonder if these two would be opening for Oasis in their respective cities…

“Making a 90’s throwback night would be a winner in the US.”

Whilst a fourth echoed: “I got an email from Weezer that they have a “big” announcement next Wednesday.

“My crackpot theory is they’re gonna be an opener for the U S.dates but it’s probably just something related to the blue album anniversary.”

Oasis have since released their tour dates.

The rockers – who have bagged 10 UK number one albums between them – will head down south to London‘s Wembley Stadium on July 25 and 26, before picking up the tour there on August 2 and 3.

Next comes August 8 and 9 at Edinburgh, in the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, before August 16 and 17 gigs in Dublin, at Croke Park.

Tickets for the UK dates go on sale from 9am on Saturday, August 31.

Dublin tickets will be available from 8am that same day.
