The Hellacopters Announce New Album Overdriver

The Hellacopters have announced the new album Overdriver, due out January 31st via Nuclear Blast. The cover art can be seen below.

The LP follows 2022’s Eyes of Oblivion and marks the second studio album from the Swedish hard rockers since reuniting in 2021. The new album was recorded at Strawberry Studio and The Honk Palace and is the first Hellacopters record entirely produced by frontman Nicke Andersson. The cover art was created by German illustrator Max Löffler.

Overdriver will also arrive as The Hellacopters celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2025. Per the album’s press release, they “could have a few more tricks up their sleeves … so keep your eyes peeled!”

The band continues its resurgence after breaking a lengthy hiatus that began in 2008. Before that, The Hellacopters were one of the more prolific bands of the late-’90s/2000s garage-rock revival, releasing a steady stream of records, including the acclaimed High Visibility (2000) and its follow-up By the Grace of God (2002).

“I think there is a place for us today, because there’s nothing that sounds like us out there,” Andersson told Metal Edge following the band’s reunion in 2021. “We’re gonna show ’em that these old farts can do it.”

In other news, the band recently reissued its last album prior to the hiatus, 2008’s appropriately titled Head Off, and were also added to Little Steven’s Underground Garage Cruise, which sets sail in May 2025. So far, no other live dates have been announced.
