Some actors bond over action sequences. Others? French pastries.

In their new interview with BroBible to promote Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera, in theaters Friday, January 10, Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr. riff on croissants like it’s a scene straight out of their next buddy-cop flick—because, let’s be honest, that’s exactly the vibe.

Turns out O’Shea Jackson has opinions about croissants. Serious ones.

“The best way to say croissant is to sound like you’re choking on a croissant,” Jackson insists.

Jackson kicks things off with a shout out to Porto’s Bakery, a Los Angeles staple:

“Porto’s is pretty good. But when I was a kid, my favorite was the Croissan’wich at Burger King.”

That’s a throwback that ’80s babies and ’90s kids will remember.

Butler, incredulous, fires back:

“What?”

Jackson doubles down:

“Yeah, bro. They put it in between two croissants.”

But that’s when Butler takes things continental, one-upping Jackson with a story about dating a French woman:

“I used to go out in the morning, get baguettes and hot chocolate. I couldn’t even wait to get home—I’d dip the croissant in hot chocolate right there on the street.

It’s the perfect mix of Butler’s sophisticated-meets-chaotic vibe and Jackson’s everyman charm—exactly what fans can expect when the duo team up again in Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. The sequel shifts the action to Europe for a high-stakes diamond heist, with Butler reprising his role as Big Nick, the brash and renegade Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department detective, now chasing Jackson’s Donnie—an expert getaway driver—across international borders.

Joining them this time is Evin Ahmad, who brings a sharp, captivating presence to the cast and raises the stakes of the heist.

As a follow-up to 2018’s Den of Thieves, which pitted Butler’s rough-around-the-edges cop against a crew of professional thieves attempting to rob the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles, Den of Thieves 2: Pantera amps up the tension, betrayal, and action as Big Nick and Donnie navigate chaos, alliances, and double-crosses on an international scale. It’s very continental.

“These two, who were oil and water, have to figure out how to mix,” Jackson says.

In other words, a complete bro down.

BroBible couldn’t resist asking: What’s the difference between stealing an absurd amount of cash and a diamond?

Jackson, always practical, weighed in first:

“Oh man, well, number one, an absurd amount of cash, you’re gonna have to carry that, you know, a certain way.”

But Butler, never one to miss a punchline, added:

“A diamond is obviously more concealable… it’s a lot more painful to smuggle.”
