blink-182’s Mark Hoppus has announced a new memoir, Fahrenheit-182, which is set for release on April 8th, 2025 (pre-order it here).
The memoir arrives co-authored by Dan Ozzi, who also helped pen the memoir for Laura Jane Grace of Against Me! and SELLOUT. Watch the silly, very Hoppus-ian promotional video for Fahrenheit-182 below.
“This book has everything,” Hoppus proudly says in the faux informercial. “The young man, born in the California desert, joins a punk rock band and goes on to conquer the world! It’s got skateboarding! It’s got punk rock clubs! It’s got ’90s music! But that’s not all! Pre-order now and we’ll throw in with no extra cost to you: Anxiety! Depression! Band breakups! Loss of self! Suicidal thoughts and ideation! And of course everyone’s favorite: cancer! This shit gets dark.”
Hoppus had previously announced Fahrenheit-182 back in 2022, saying he was “excited” to tell his story after battling cancer. It’s also not the first time a member of blink-182 decided to try their hand at becoming an author. Travis Barker put out his memoir, Can I Say, in 2016, and Tom DeLonge has released a number of novels, with his latest, Trinity, having arrived earlier this year.
“The book is Mark’s memoir of growing up the child of divorced parents in the California desert, starting the most popular punk band in the world, and surviving cancer,” Ozzi explained in a recent Substack post. “But it also doubles as the definitive history of blink, seeing as how Mark is, as he once put it to me, the only person on earth who has been to all of their shows.
“This was an absolute dream project. Probably the most fun I’ve ever had putting words together,” he continued. “I was actually very sad when we finished because I didn’t want it to end. Mark really dug deep and put it all out there and it shows. I am very proud and honored to have been on the team. The book is very funny in a way that you might expect, but it’s also very dark in a way that you might not expect. Or, as Mark very succinctly described it recently: ‘It’s a fun and funny book and then I almost die.’”
The iconic pop punk act has been in full stride since DeLonge reunited with the band in late 2022. In addition to tour dates around the world, the band dropped the full-length project ONE MORE TIME… (available here) in 2023. Just last week, they shared ONE MORE TIME… PART-2 (available here), a deluxe edition that boasts additional bonus tracks.
blink-182 is set to return to the United States this month for a string of festival appearances, including Oceans Calling in Ocean City, Maryland; South Star in Huntsville, Alabama; and Austin City Limits in Austin, Texas. Get tickets here.
