LEGO Wallace & Gromit and X-Files sets officially revealed

LEGO sets for Wallace & Gromit and The X-Files have been officially confirmed after two fan entries won a 90s-themed building challenge.

On June 25, just days after LEGO greenlit a fan-made Godzilla set, the toy construction company revealed the fan-made Wallace & Gromit and The X-Files sets would be released.

This is particularly great news for fans of Aardman’s legendary claymation comedy franchise, Wallace & Gromit. Sci-fi fans will also be happy to finally get their hands on an official X-Files set, which will fit right at home with LEGO’s popular Star Wars and Avatar sets.

The two winners beat 268 other entries and will now undergo LEGO’s production review process, which will bring them to life brick by brick.

Kicking things off is the Wallace & Gromit set, which recreates the duo’s iconic red motorcycle that first appeared in A Grand Day Out. Wallace’s signature toothy smile and blue overalls have been recreated, while Gromit’s comically large nose and sidecar pulls the whole thing together.

No minifigures of the pair have been confirmed, but the large-scale recreation does a great job of capturing what made the original claymation characters so special. The build itself looks fairly big as well, despite staying within the 200-1000 piece range.

Lastly, The X-Files: The Truth Is Out There set includes a highly detailed recreation of Mulder’s basement office. As you can see, it’s absolutely packed with Easter Eggs, case files, and, of course, the iconic “I Want to Believe” poster.

WetWired’s design also features a full UFO scene and six minifigures, including Mulder, Scully, Skinner, and the signature Grey alien. Unlike the LEGO Wallace & Gromit set, which used between 200-1000 pieces, the X-Files set uses approximately 2,020 pieces. So, it will likely take a little more time to build.

No price details or size specifications have been revealed, but we’ll likely hear more once LEGO’s production team have finalized the designs.
