Before Keanu Reeves was known for playing Neo in The Matrix and John Wick in the franchise, the beloved actor’s best known role was that of Officer Jack Traven in the iconic 90s action movie Speed.
It’s now been 30 years since the release of Speed, so in celebration of the anniversary, Reeves and co-star Sandra Bullock appeared on a Speed-centric podcast called 50 MPH.
During the interview, the topic of a third Speed movie was broached and both Reeves and Bullock seemed to be into the idea, if only to be able to work together again.
“I mean, you know — we’d freakin’ knock it out of the park,” Reeves said.
“Before I die, before I leave this planet, I do think that Keanu and I need to do something in front of the camera. Are we, you know, in wheelchairs or with walkers? Maybe. Are we on little scooters at Disneyland?” Bullock added.
Bullock and Reeves’ affinity for one another is certainly well-documented, as they not only starred together in Speed and The Lake House, as Bullock revealed on The Ellen Show back in 2018 that she had a crush on Reeves while they were making the movie.
“Never dated him. There was something about me that I guess he didn’t like. He never… I think we’re probably friends for that long because we didn’t…” Bullock said.
Ellen then showed the clip to Reeves about a year later and the action movie icon looked genuinely stunned — and almost a bit disappointed that he never made a move — by Bullock’s admission.
“She obviously didn’t know I had a crush on her, either, so…” Reeves said after seeing the clip.
Bullock eventually did reprise her role of Annie Porter in the 1997 film Speed 2: Cruise Control, which was universally panned by critics, and has an appalling 4% on Rotten Tomatoes.
