Grant Pavol returns with a blast of alt-rock nostalgia on ‘He Ain’t Right,’ the anthemic lead single from his upcoming Left That Party EP, out May 9.

A stark pivot from the sparse country textures of January’s College EP, ‘He Ain’t Right’ finds Pavol turning the volume up and the distortion on. Loaded with fuzzed-out guitars, driving drums, and an irresistible hook, the track leans into the spirit of ’90s alt-rock icons like Weezer, Paramore, and Guided by Voices. It’s a tight, riff-forward homage to teenage fandom and the kind of music that once blasted from CD players and burnt mixtapes. Featuring Sloppy Jane’s Isabella Bustanoby on bass and Anya Good (George Clanton, Grumpy) on drums, the song anchors Pavol’s new direction—raw, punchy, and unashamedly fun.

‘He Ain’t Right’ is a loud and loving throwback, recharged by fresh energy—and a clear signal that Grant Pavol is just getting started.
