The beloved series “Desperate Housewives” may be getting a reboot. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Kerry Washington had signed on to a reboot of the beloved show, which ran for 10 years and starred an ensemble cast that included Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and more.

While Longoria has always embraced the idea of a reboot, she recently shared some of the reasons why the project hasn’t come to fruition yet.

Washington has partnered up with the showrunner Natalie Chaidez for the series, and is titled “Wisteria Lane,” representing the housewives’ fictional neighborhood.

Variety shared a logline for the series, revealing that it’s sticking pretty close to the original formula.

“On the surface, all the Wisteria neighbors are living the dream. Beautiful homes, gorgeous families, shiny SUVs in the driveway — but behind those white picket fences and smiling Insta posts, are secrets,” reads the logline.

Will Longoria join the new series?

Earlier this week, Longoria was on “Watch What Happens Live,” where she revealed the main reason why a new chapter with her character has yet to be revealed.

When asked about the person who’d be the most difficult to convince to return to a reboot, Longoria said, “Marc Cherry, our creator.”

“He feels like we’ve exhausted the characters.” Then, she added, “I can’t sleep with any more people on that street. I have slept with every person on the street.”

For the time being, it seems like “Wisteria Lane” is focusing on a new group of women. The news has sparked some drama with long-term fans, who’ve shared their thoughts on social media.

“Oh hell no enough of these remakes my lord and it never hit like the OGs,” wrote someone on X. They also shared their disillusionment with the fact that Cherry appears to have no connection with the project.
