DAWSON’S Creek actor James Van Der Beek has suggested a secret off-screen romance with former co-star Katie Holmes.
Over the weekend, two Dawson’s Creek castmates reunited at a panel for ’90s Con.
At the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, James, 47 – who played the role of Dawson Leery and co-star Kerr Smith – who portrayed Jack McPhee – held a Q&A session with attendees.
During the session, a fan asked the Varsity Blues star if he had an off-screen romance with Katie, 45 – who played Joey Potter.
“What happens in the creek stays in the creek,” James answered.
On the CW show, which aired between 1998 and 2003, Dawson and his best friend, Pacey Witter (Joshua Jackson), had a crush on Joey.
Amid their romantic triangle, Joey had a brief fling with Jack, who struggled to come to terms with being gay.
At the panel, James poked fun at Kerr and his character arc.
“Now you can be canceled for not being gay,” the Rules of Attraction star said.
As the series came to an end, Joey ended up picking Pacey over Dawson.
