A casting call has been shared for the newly announced comedy movie inspired by the early days of Green Day, with the callout seeking “punks, alts, hardcore, emo and rockers”.
Following last week’s announcement of the movie, the Oklahama-based casting office Freihofer has released a callout for a concert scene.
In search of “punks, alts, hardcore, emo and rockers aged 18-30”, everyone selected will work multiple days on the film, appearing as “attendees of a pop-up rock show at a outdoor location”.

Filming will take place in Oklahoma City between February 24 – 27, with one day of the shoot including a “rain and mud fight”, presumably a nod to the iconic mud fight that broke out following Green Day’s set at the 1994 Woodstock event.

Last week, Live Nation Productions announced that Lee Kirk will write and direct ‘New Years Rev’, based on the legendary band’s days travelling and touring in a van prior to their breakout success in the early 90s. The band’s members, Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt, will all serve as producers on the project.
Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman and Ryan Foust will star as three friends who head to Los Angeles after mistakenly believing they have been booked to open for Green Day at a New Years Eve show. The cast also features ‘The Office’ stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey.
On the movie news, Armstrong says “Van days rule. You will drive all night on no sleep then play a show for 10 kids in a basement of a friend of a friend’s house 50 miles east of anywhere you’ve ever heard of. But you’ll do it again the next day, and the one after that. Because you’re doing it with your bandmates who become your family and it’s unlike anything you’ve ever known. It’s electric. Let the music and mischief ensue.”
Green Day will return to the UK this summer when they headline Download Festival alongside Sleep Token and Korn. The event will take place at Donington Park on June 13-15.
