CALVIN Harris has hit back with a furious TikTok video after being accused of COPYING a 90s popstar.
The Scottish DJ’s new single Blessings has been slammed by musician Nick Chicane, with Calvin even accused of copying the hit Offshore.
Nick Chicane, who is best known for his Ibiza trance anthem Offshore, took to social media with a furious rant accusing Calvin of copying his 90s hit.
“I’m Nick Chicane and welcome to the video that I thought I would never have to make,” he began in the two-minute-long clip shared on TikTok.
Nick then said that the video was his “right to reply” about comments he had received in regards to Calvin’s new song sounding like his 30-year-old hit Offshore.
He then showed viewers how a riff in Offshore cut and looped sounded exactly like Blessings.
Playing the two records together, he then demonstrated how he claimed it was the same riff and tune.
“They are almost identical,” he added.
Nick then said he was “defending” his copyright and intellectual property.
Calvin has since shared a video showing the different songs in the same editing system as he played each one.
“Response to the people calling me a plagiarist over the last couple of days after that guys video, all the best,” he penned in the caption.
In the comments, he added: “If you make it to the end you’re rewarded with the track HE ripped off originally for his song.”
The video, which lasted for over eight minutes, saw Calvin trying to figure out the parts of the songs that sounded similar.
At one point, Calvin could be heard bursting into laughter before branding Nick as “stupid”.
But despite Calvin’s video defending himself and responding to the claims that he had copied Offshore, not all fans were convinced.
“Calvin, to be honest the minute I heard your tune I thought you sampled off shore.
“To see all the controversy over it and you saying you didn’t sample it, is abit mad,” said one.
Another added: “Nah man! You did sample. I saw his video. Pitch corrected and looped.”
While a third penned: “Sorry Calvin. I think Nick has got a point. I ain’t no expert but to me it does have some similarity.
“Maybe that’s all, I don’t know. But to hear you making fun of Nick doesn’t suite you.”
But a fourth defended Calvin: “Nothing like it!! As a nostalgia thing people think to themselves, what does this remind me of, it might give off vibes but it’s nothing like it!”
As did a fifth: “So the guy falsely claims you ripped of his song, he genuinely ripped of someone else?”
Calvin is currently all loved up with Vick Hope, whom he is married to.
They tied the knot in September 2023 and have been in a relationship since 2022.
