Alicia Silverstone Open to ‘Blast From the Past’ 2 With Brendan Fraser

From House Party to The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, ’90s movie and TV reboots aren’t slowing down. Now Blast from the Past could be added to the list.

On Sunday, Alicia Silverstone attended the Clueless reunion panel at the 90s Con in Connecticut. Fans asked the star if she would ever consider working with Oscar-winner Brendan Fraser again for a sequel to the 1999 rom-com

“With Brendan? I would do anything with Brendan. It was so much fun,” the 46-year-old emphasized. “I just saw Brendan after he won his Oscar and he’s so cute. He talked in his speech about how we all go through this really hard time, and you have to grow and it’s part of life that you struggle, and then look what happened to him. So yes, I’m happy to do that.”

Blast from the Past premiered Valentine’s Day weekend in ’99, grossing $40.3M at the box office. It received mixed reviews but became a nostalgic fan-favorite. Its synopsis reads, “Adam Webber (Fraser) has lived his entire life in confinement in a fallout shelter in Pasadena, Calif. When the Webber family’s rations of food and supplies grow thin, Adam’s eccentric father, Calvin (Christopher Walken), sends him on a dangerous restocking mission. When Adam emerges from the Webber family’s subterranean refuge for the first time, he finds that rumors of a nuclear apocalypse were totally false—and meets gorgeous Eve Rustikov (Silverstone).”

Earlier this month, Fraser, 54, received the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in The Whale. During his speech, Fraser first pointed out his dedication to his lengthy time in Hollywood, saying, “I started in this business 30 years ago, and things didn’t come easily to me, but there was a facility that I didn’t appreciate at the time until it stopped.”

The star of The Mummy continued, “I just want to say thank you for this acknowledgment, because it couldn’t be done without my cast. It’s been like I’ve been on a diving expedition, and the air on the line to the surface is being watched over by some people in my life, like my sons.”
