ALFONSO Ribeiro has revealed that playing Will Smith’s cousin on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was a blessing and a curse.
The actor opened up about how his life changed after the legendary sitcom.
Alfonso played Carlton Banks on the early 90s NBC comedy.
He was often the punchline to Will Smith‘s self-named character, while also becoming a fan favorite after memorable moments like when he danced The Carlton.
However, he recently shared that he has some regrets about the role.
“Playing Carlton on ‘Fresh Prince’ became a sacrifice,” he said in a new interview with Closer Weekly. “I used to always say doing Carlton was the greatest and worst thing that ever happened to me.”

He further explained that his “sacrifice” nearly cost him his acting career.
“It was one of the greatest roles that I ever was fortunate enough to play, but it was also the role that stopped me from acting again because people couldn’t see me as anything else.”
HOST WITH MOST
Alfonso may no longer be acting, but he is still enjoying life in front of a camera as host of Dancing with the Stars.
“I’m enjoying being a host and am very happy with it,” Alfonso continued.
He also showed some love to his co-host, Julianne Hough.
“Julianne and I have incredible chemistry together for the show,” he said. “We really work well together. I’m truly enjoying everything I’m doing.”
However, never say never.
“But, yes, I would go back to acting if it was exactly the right thing.”
CHEMISTRY CLASS
Alfonso and Julianne put their chemistry on display last year, as the two shared an impromptu bump and grind outside of their studio soundstage.
Doing Carlton was the greatest and worst thing that ever happened to me.”

Julianne grinded sexily behind Alfonso, who was doing his own seductive moves that looked nothing like The Carlton.
The 35-year-old showed her style, dropping down low and thrusting her hips while teasing the former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star.
Her thin frame was tucked into a pair of tight blue jeans, while she topped it with a long-sleeve white shirt with a plunging neckline.
Alfonso’s dance was a little less polished, as he flung his arms around like an inflatable wobbly man outside a used car dealership.
The AFV host grabbed onto a nearby handrail for support.
He relaxed in a red button-down shirt, black hoodie and black jeans.
The pair seemed to go unnoticed by fellow crew members, who filed by behind them.
