Ain’t release haunting second single ‘Teething’

London-based five-piece Ain’t return with their brooding second single ‘Teething,’ delivering another darkly atmospheric track that solidifies their reputation in the alternative music scene.
Following the success of their debut single ‘Oar’ earlier this year, ‘Teething’ marks a continuation of Ain’t’s unique blend of ‘90s guitar influences, post-punk tension, and shoegaze textures. Recorded with producer Oli Barton Wood, the track builds around a haunting guitar motif, which evolved into a song of anguish and yearning. With muscular, hook-driven melodies and a sense of growing unease, ‘Teething’ showcases the band’s ability to balance introspective melancholy with dynamic power.
Vocalist Hanna Baker Darch’s driving delivery further enhances the song’s emotional weight. As the band explains:
“‘Teething’ is definitely our creepiest song – Ed wrote it ages before Ain’t and the lyrics ‘you don’t even notice me from the window’ encapsulates the whole premise of the song neatly. It’s about vying for someone’s attention when they couldn’t care less – and how the sting of that rejection isn’t so much a sting, but a persistent throbbing, like toothache.”
