90s child star, 46, insists she hasn’t ‘vanished’ and reveals new life as yoga teacher decades after ditching Hollywood

NINETIES child star Lisa Jakub has clapped back at claims she has “vanished” since her movie heyday.

Lisa, 46, furiously hit out after she was listed in an online “breaking news” story titled ‘Once-popular child stars who completely vanished’.

Lisa is best known for starring in the 90s blockbuster movies Mrs Doubtfire and Independence Day – but she has insisted she has NOT “vanished”.

In a scathing Instagram post, the star blasted, “Big news, everyone. I’ve just found out that I have ‘completely vanished’.

“Was it my current lack of popularity that made me vanish? I’m not sure how I was able to evaporate entirely (have I been a wizard all along?), but as soon as we have more information, I’m sure this publication will let you know.”

Despite turning her back on fame, Lisa has a strong public presence on social media.

She now works as a yoga instructor and runs mindfulness retreats for veterans who are suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

After seeing her most recent post, one follower told Lisa, “I was about to go on a rant in your defense until I saw this was posted by you 😅

“‘She’s still around! She does a great email newsletter! She’s on social media!'”

Another added, “I must have missed that episode of IN SEARCH OF! 😂❤️.”

A third wrote, “So this was posted by…A GHOST!”

And someone else added, “You look great for having completely disappeared. 😂.”

Mrs Doubtfire actress Lisa Jakub interviewed on Australian news channel

Lisa’ s first film part was in the 1985 movie Eleni but her breakthrough role was playing Lydia Hillard in Mrs Doubtfire in 1993.

Lydia was the eldest daughter of Daniel – aka Euphegenia Doubtfire – and Miranda Hillard, played by Robin Williams and Sally Field.

The Canadian actress was expelled from her high school for clocking up too many absences while shooting the movie.

Hollywood star Robin, who tragically died in 2014, even wrote to Lisa’s principle but was not successful in getting her readmitted.

Three years later, Lisa landed another role in a massive smash hit film.

She portrayed the part of Alicia, the daughter of Russell Casse – who was played by Randy Quaid – in Independence Day.

Randy’s character was a former fighter pilot who sacrificed himself to stop the Destroyer ship heading to Area 51.

Lisa went on to appear in a string of TV shows and several other movies after that before deciding to step back from acting and showbiz completely.

NEW NORMAL

The former child star has since addressed her new ‘normal’ life in a blog on her website.

She wrote, “Hello, my name is Lisa Jakub. But most people in a restaurant/dentist’s office/yoga studio dressing room, call me ‘Hey, you look like that girl from Mrs. Doubtfire/Independence Day/Matinee’.

“There is a good reason for that. I am that girl. More accurately, I was that girl. Or maybe I always will be her. A couple of decades later, I’m still trying to work that part out.

“These days, I’m an author, speaker, workshop leader, yoga teacher, and a happily retired actor.”

Lisa went on to admit she “spent 10 years running away” from her past, as she found it “awkward” when people recognized her.

“They seem to think that I’m somehow inherently different from them. And the always look at me with a thoroughly perplexed look on their face – and say ‘why would you ever leave Hollywood?'” she continued.

“You’ve probably left a job before. Why did you leave? Probably because you didn’t enjoy it anymore. Maybe something about that job didn’t feel authentic to you or fit in with what you wanted from life.

“There were probably parts of your job that you really liked, but one day, when you made your pro and con list — the con side was longer.

“Maybe you had done the job for eighteen years – like I had. Maybe it was time to do something new. That’s why I left my job.”
