It seems like no one in Hollywood wants to take risks anymore. Gone are the days when a visionary auteur could score a sleeper hit with a weird little indie film — we only let people do that now if they’ve already proven they could do it in the ‘90s. Every other movie is a sequel, an adaptation, or safest of all, a remake. After all, what could be a surer thing than a movie that’s already proven itself?
But maybe we’re thinking about remakes all wrong. What if, instead of possibly ruining movies that were already good, we put bad movies with potential into competent hands with sufficient budgets? Apparently, a lot of people have already thought about that, because when user Drakmeire asked r/AskReddit, “What bad film could be made into a great film if it were to be remade?,” Reddit had plenty of ideas.
