Valerie Bertinelli’s First Husband
She was one of the biggest stars in the world in the 80s, and she married another one of the biggest stars. It was 1981, and she was one of the most famous actresses of her generation. She was a child star first, and she defied all the odds and created a successful career for herself as an adult. While many child stars wash out or turn to drugs or other substances, she remained at the top of her game. She married musical genius Eddie Van Halen in 1981, and their marriage lasted more than a quarter century. Their son, Wolfgang, was born in 1991 when his parents had been married for ten years. They separated in 2001 after two decades of marriage. However, their divorce was not finalized until 2007. They were officially married for 26 years.

When asked about her first husband, Bertinelli is quick to point out that she simply could not spend her life with a man who was destroying his own. Eddie Van Halen suffered from cocaine addiction that he could not shake. Even after being diagnosed with oral cancer and having half his tongue removed, he still used drugs. She could not take it any longer. She left him, took their son, and she moved on.

With her divorce finalized in 2007, she began dating. She met a man by the name of Tom Vitale. He worked in the financial world. We should mention that they began dating long before her divorce was finalized. She met him three years after she left her first husband, but her divorce would take another three years to finalize. In 2010, however, she got engaged. In 2011, she married Tom Vitale after seven years together. Through her marriage, she gained four stepchildren, but both her son and her first husband were so happy for her that they both came to her wedding. It all seemed to be going so well.
Valerie Bertinelli’s Husband and the Legal Separation
In November 2021, when the rest of the country was celebrating the holiday season, Bertinelli was filing for legal separation from her husband. She called the reason for her separation irreconcilable differences, and she has only said that they grew apart, and she wishes him the best. However, she filed for divorce only six months later. Unfortunately, Valerie Bertinelli’s husband is not handling things well. He’s already asked the court to award him spousal support, he also asked that they deny his estranged wife any spousal support, and he has also asked that the court invalidate the prenuptial agreement he signed prior to his wedding.

It’s not going well for Bertinelli right now. It appears to have been a rough few years. Following a secondary cancer diagnosis, Eddie Van Halen died in 2020.
