She hit him with her best shot.
Pat Benatar, 70, fired away at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), 52, with two simple words after he bizarrely linked her music to child murder.
When conservative talk show host Joe “Pags” Pagliarulo asked Cruz on Wednesday if the US Senate would ever vote to impeach President Biden, Cruz replied: “I don’t think Senate Democrats, if you had video of Joe Biden murdering children dressed as the devil under a full moon while singing Pat Benatar, they still wouldn’t vote to convict.”
Cruz’s comment may have been a reference to the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s 1980 hit “Hell Is For Children” — but the song actually condemns child abuse.
Benatar was all fired up Friday when she took to Facebook to post “Nice try!”
She shares the Facebook page with her husband, Neil Giraldo, 67.
When reached for comment, a rep for Benatar referred The Post to the Facebook post.
The Post also contacted a Cruz spokesperson for comment.
Meanwhile, Benatar’s fans roasted Cruz on Twitter for the rant.
“Ted Cruz, KEEP PAT BENATAR’S NAME OUTYA DAMN MOUTH!” one user referenced Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars.
“There’s only one way to settle this. Ted Cruz has to do a dance off with Pat Benatar,” another fan joked.
“Obviously, the funniest part is that, in a spontaneous moment, the most sinister and satanic rock & roller Ted Cruz could think of was Pat Benatar,” a third laughed.
But at least one person sided with Cruz on Twitter.
“I loved Pat Benatar in the 80s. But, forget about her for a second. What Ted Cruz said was 100% True,” the tweeter remarked.
Benatar is scheduled to open for Pink on her global stadium “Summer Carnival Tour” starting July 31 in Boston.
