Faster Pussycat Singer's Fiancée Dies After Falling Off Cruise Ship

Tragic news, as Faster Pussycat singer Taime Downe’s fiancée, Kimberly Burch, has reportedly died after falling overboard on an ’80s cruise that the band was playing.

According to a report from TMZ, Burch was accompanying Downe and Faster Pussycat aboard “The ’80s Cruise,” a decade-themed fest that the glam-metal band was booked to play alongside Squeeze, Adam Ant, Christopher Cross, Men at Work, and more. Downe and company were set to perform on Sunday (March 2nd) and Tuesday (March 4th).

Kimberly’s mother, Carnell Burch, told TMZ that her daughter fell to her death shortly after a heated argument with Downe — her partner of 6 or 7 years — while aboard the Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas cruise ship, roughly 20 miles away from Freeport, Bahamas.

It remains undetermined whether Kimberly jumped, was forced, or accidentally fell overboard. Carnell said Kimberly was drinking on the cruise, which was “out of character,” but that she had otherwise been excited about the trip out of Miami and wasn’t dealing with any prior emotional issues or depression.

A Royal Caribbean Group spokesperson gave the following statement to TMZ: “Our crew immediately launched a search and rescue effort, is working with local authorities, and we are providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time. To respect the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no additional details to share.”

A US Coast Guard spokesperson added that a helicopter crew and other personnel were deployed to assist the Royal Bahamas Defense Force in their search, though efforts were later suspended. The cruise, which is set to make stops in Nassau, San Juan, and Puerto Plata, is scheduled to return to Miami on March 9th.

Our condolences go out to Kimberly Burch’s family and friends during this difficult time.
