Bartees Strange is back with a new single: “Lie 95,” which arrives today along with a dreamlike music video.
Co-produced by Strange, notcharles, and longtime collaborator Graham Richman, “Lie 95” is a passionate plea for love in an ‘80s-esque indie pop package. Over a driving, mid-tempo beat, Strange delivers lyrics detailing his search for human connection while on the road, with guest vocals by Kacy Hill and Charlene Gibbs.
“This song is about searching for love all across the Northeast corridor (I-95) — my universe,” Strange said in a statement. “I’m thinking of ‘Love’ in a broad way: partners, friends, and community. This one’s for the highway… and everything I meet through it.”

The release of “Lie 95” follows a busy 2024 for Strange. Earlier in the year, he shared reissues of previous releases Say Goodbye to Pretty Boy, Magic Boy, and his single “Going Going.” Then, in May, he contributed an original song to the I Saw the TV Glow soundtrack, titled “Big Glow.”
In 2022, Strange released the acclaimed album Farm to Table, which included a track, “Heavy Heart,” that was named the fifth best song of 2022 by Consequence.
