U.S. Girls, the project of Toronto artist Meg Remy, is back with a new album, Scratch It, out June 20th via 4AD. In addition to revealing a handful of new North American tour dates, Remy has also shared the project’s first single, “Bookends,” a sprawling ballad written as a tribute to the late Power Trip frontman Riley Gale.
Scratch It serves as the first U.S. Girls album since 2023’s Bless This Mess. She crafted the LP in Nashville with a brand new band, who will also join Remy on the road for U.S. Girls’ forthcoming North American tour. Remy recorded the new album with her band “live off the floor” with few overdubs, giving Scratch It a direct, intimate feel with notes of country, gospel, garage rock, soul, disco, folk, and more.
U.S. Girls’ 2025 tour in support of Scratch It kicks off with a Nashville show on May 14th, and resumes after the album’s release with an Asheville concert on June 21st. Remy and her band will then make their way through cities like Washington D.C., Philadelphia, New York, Cleveland, and Chicago before pausing for the rest of the summer; the tour resumes and concludes with a pair of California dates on September 9th and 11th. See the full list of tour dates below. Tickets for all 10 shows of the tour are on sale now via U.S. Girls’ official website.

Remy has offered new song “Bookends” as the first preview of Scratch It. Spanning just over 12 minutes and moving at a patient, waltzing trot, “Bookends” pays tribute to the late Power Trip frontman Riley Gale, written through the lens of John Carey’s Eyewitness To History. Fittingly, paired with its long runtime, the song features meditations on existence, grief, and death; about eight minutes in, however, the song’s tempo picks up and the atmosphere becomes more celebratory. Watch the surreal, ’60s-esque video for “Bookends” below.
