Fans were shocked after country-pop star Shania Twain flaunted her new look on the People’s Country Choice Awards red carpet on Thursday night.
The 59-year-old singer decided to ditch her brunette locks for a blonde ’60s style hairdo. Along with her new unrecognizable tresses, she continued to grab everyone’s attention in a sparkly denim two-piece.
When asked about her stunning new look, Twain told E! News she collaborated with Levi’s to create it. She responded, “Isn’t it crazy? I love it. I was involved with the sketches and the design and the silhouette and everything. To me, that’s the joy. It’s not about putting on something that’s amazing—it’s about being part of it.”
While some viewers took to the internet to bash Twain’s look, many fans shared their positive reactions. One user posted to X, formerly Twitter, with, “Shania Twain in her unapologetic era. Love that for mother.”
Host For The Night: People’s Country Choice Awards
Twain went on to host the 2024 PCCA’s that night, along with a nomination for Best Concert Tour of 2024. Other nominees in the category included Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, Luke Combs, Zach Bryan, George Straight, Kenny Chesney and Morgan Wallen.
The “I Feel Like A Woman!” singer made sure to mention that she felt inspired by another well-known country star Reba McEntire to host the awards. “The hosts are chosen, I think quite carefully, making sure people are relating and the host has experience,” she told Billboard.
She went on to say, “Reba is one of my favorite hosts. She’s speaking from experience and I think that commands respect and attention. She’s funny and smart, and is loved by all, and it’s a compliment to be asked to do something like [hosting an awards show]. So Reba is a good example for me.”
Twain hasn’t had an easy ride, in terms of her health, throughout the years. In 2003 she battled Lyme disease, as well as open-throat surgery in 2018.
Despite these challenging conditions, she has proven that she is in fact, the strong woman she sings about in her songs. Twain released her sixth studio album, “Queen of Me,” in February 2023, followed by a Las Vegas residency.
