Why Leighton Meester And Adam Brody Skipped Wedding Ceremony

Meester and Brody officially tied the knot in 2014.

Leighton Meester and Adam Brody are one of the most low-profile couples in Hollywood.

The two are so chill that they decided to forgo a wedding when they tied the knot in 2014.

“On sets and in life, I’ve been able to wear a fancy dress and hit a mark and say lines, and I didn’t want it to feel like that,” Meester said in an interview with Bustle, published on Wednesday. “I wanted it to feel intimate and private.”

But just in case she came off perhaps too chill, Meester couched her answer.

“I’m an actor,” said Meester, who starred in “Gossip Girl” from 2007 to 2012. “So I do appreciate attention.”

The couple recently celebrated a decade of marriage, and Brody shared some insight as to what makes their marriage work.

“Pick someone good. Be lucky and be in love with someone who’s great and then just kind of listen to them,” the “Nobody Wants This” star shared during an appearance on the “Today” show in 2024.

“If you’re with someone great, you’re on third base,” said Brody, who starred in “The OC” in the 2000s. “Not that it doesn’t take sacrifice and humility and you have to grow together and you have to be willing to grow, because you’re not going to be able to stay 100 percent right where you are. But if you’re with someone wonderful, I think you’re on third base.”

Brody also memorably shouted out his wife ― and the couple’s two children ― while receiving the 2025 Critics Choice Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This.”

“My darling, darling, darling wife, Leighton ― thank you,” he said at the awards show in February. “Thank you for sharing this life with me, and this journey with me. Thank you for our family. I love you with all my heart.”
