Former Game of Thrones and X-Men star Sophie Turner has shared a new photo showing off how insanely shredded she’s gotten in preparation for playing Lara Croft in Prime Video’s upcoming Tomb Raider series.
In November 2024, Sophie Turner, now 29 years old, was cast as Lara Croft Prime Video’s Tomb Raider series that’s set to be written and executive produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
While updates on the project have been sparse ever since, it’s clear that Turner has begun training for the role based on this latest photo of her on social media looking absolutely shredded.

Hollywood has seemingly struggled to crack the Lara Croft character since the pair of Angelina Jolie-starring films in the early 2000s, which certainly weren’t any good but were at least mildly successful, as the original made $274M at the global box office.
In 2018, Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander starred in a Tomb Raider film that got decent reviews and also performed decently at the box office, but development on a sequel stalled and was ultimately scrapped. On Netflix, an animated Tomb Raider series with Hayley Atwell voicing Lara Croft was recently renewed for a second season.
Turner first broke out by starring as Sansa Stark on the iconic HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones from 2011 to 2019. Off the success of Game of Thrones, Turner was cast as Jean Grey / Phoenix in the X-Men franchise, starring in the films X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix. Her most recent role was starring in the British series Joan in 2024.
In 2016, Turner began a high-profile relationship with pop star Joe Jonas. The pair got married in 2019 and have two daughters together, born in 2020 and 2022. Turner and Jonas filed for divorce in September 2023 and it was finalized in September 2024.
