His manager, DJ, and producer, Birch Michael, announced the tragic news, and Scoop’s family also confirmed it in a statement, calling him a “world-class performer.”

Fatman Scoop’s death has been announced after he collapsed during a medical emergency on Friday.

According to reports, Scoop, whose real name was Isaac Freeman III, was rushed to the hospital after his collapse during a show in Hamden Town Center Park, Connecticut.

Birch Michael, the rapper’s manager, producer, and DJ, announced the news on Saturday morning via social media.

He wrote, “I am honestly lost for words… You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truly made me the man I am today.”

Fatman Scoop’s Family Released A Statement On His Death

Scoop’s family released a statement confirming the rapper’s death. It read, “Last night, the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light on the stage and in life. He was the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength, and courage.”

In the statement, they noted that Scoop was more than “just a world-class performer—he was a father, brother, uncle, and a friend. “

They also described him as the “undisputed voice of the club” who made music that had the whole world “dancing and embracing life with positivity.”

Scoop’s exact cause of death has not been announced; however, it’s likely linked to his collapse on stage in Hamden Town. It’s also not confirmed if the entertainer suffered from any medical issues that contributed to the collapse.

Footage Showed The Moment Of His Collapse

Footage captured by the audience showed the exact moment of Scoop’s collapse, which was just after he came on stage to excite the crowd. The video showed the rapper as he took the stairs to the DJ booth, but his breathing quickly became audibly labored, evidenced by his heavy breathing into the microphone.

Then Scoop said to the crowd, “If you came to party,” then took a long pause and leaned forward as if to catch his breath, “Make some noise.” After that, he dropped the microphone and collapsed on the ground, which caused gasps and screams from the crowd.

At this point, several artists working with Scoop tried to calm the audience and keep the show going, but this didn’t work, as many were worried about the fallen rapper. Another clip from the event showed one artist walking over to the DJ booth to switch off the music, which quieted the hall.

The video only showed a partial view of someone performing chest compressions to revive Scoop before authorities arrived around 8:30 pm. At that point, Scoop was rushed out of the hall on a stretcher and taken to the hospital, where he later passed on.

Scoop was a successful rapper and entertainment for decades, starting from the early 2000s.

He became well known for his deep and loud voice and boisterous stage and vocal presence. During his career, Scoop worked with huge music stars like Missy Elliot, Jermaine Dupri, and Mariah Carey.

He was a three-time Grammy award winner and made a name in podcasting and reality TV.

The same day as his fatal collapse, Scoop had just released the music video for his new song with Dyce Paso, titled “Let It Go.”

Rap legend Missy Elliot penned on X, “Prayers for Fatman Scoop family for STRENGTH during this difficult time. Fatman Scoop VOICE & energy have contributed to MANY songs that made the people feel HAPPY & want to dance for over 2 decades. Your IMPACT is HUGE & will be NEVER be forgotten.”

Another person said, “Rest In Perfection to the legendary Fatman Scoop. If you wasn’t hyped off that You Got Served Intro as a kid I dunno what to tell you.”

A third individual noted, “Losing Fatman Scoop is losing a huge part of culture. An essential part of music and his voice will literally live on forever. Rest in peace.”
