Pizza, the food loved by just about everyone with taste buds, is finally making its return to McDonald’s… sort of.
Back in the 1980s, McDonald’s had pizza on its menu in the form of the McPizza. This traditional pie, unfortunately, wasn’t the most popular, and this item contradicted the chain’s standards for having food prepared quickly, with the McPizza taking over 10 minutes to cook.
Although the McPizza was discontinued in the early 2000s, that hasn’t stopped the golden arches from dabbling into pizza every now and again, though.
In 2023, McDonald’s Germany added Pizza Pockets called ‘Pizzataschen’, which featured marinara and cheese filled morsels encased in dough.
Now, in 2025, McDonald’s is upping the ante and is looking to bring pizza back to North America. Just don’t be surprised if you need to travel a bit to get your hands on one.
On June 20, the McDonald’s Canada social media accounts posted a graphic for a “classified” menu item.
“I’m not allowed to show u what’s inside yet. But if u wanna zoom in and guess, there’s literally nothing i can do about it,” the caption stated.
The image contains a classified document with the date June 24, 2025, on it, along with the words visible words “Pizza Bit” – likely “Pizza Bites.”
On the top of the image, there’s a photo of what appears to be similar to McDonald’s Italy’s Panzerotti product.
However, it’s likely the aforementioned ‘Pizzataschen’ from Germany. A previous teaser for McDonald’s Canada showed The Hamburglar moving a car on a map from Germany to Canada. The video ended with the text “Arrives in Canada June 24.”
Although it may not be the McPizza fans in North America grew up with, we’ll have to see just what kind of effect this product has on fans in the Great White North.
Meanwhile, McDonald’s customers in the US are also waiting to get their hands on the long-awaited Snap Wraps and the chain’s largest burger yet, The Big Arch.
