Jennifer Lopez’s Friends Want Her To ‘Focus On Herself’ Amid Divorce

Jennifer Lopez‘s move to file for divorce from Ben Affleck has seemingly incited discomfort within her inner circle. Sources close to the singer reveal that even her friends are growing tired of her repeated marital missteps.

The “Jenny From The Block” singer’s divorce filing reportedly didn’t catch Affleck off guard as he’s said to have “been done for a long time.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were embroiled in speculations of a troubled marriage after going months without being seen and snubbing each other on important days like their wedding anniversary.

The 55-year-old singer filed to divorce the “Gone Girl” actor at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, August 20, but the move has seemingly raised eyebrows among her friends.

According to the Daily Mail, a source revealed that Lopez’s close pals think she needs to “look inside herself” as her decision to divorce Affleck means she has ended a marriage for the fourth time.

“After four failed marriages, her friends feel that she should look inside and focus on herself instead of what others want her to be and finally figure out who she is and what she wants from her future,” the insider said.

Lopez’s move to end her marriage to Affleck comes two years after they tied the knot at a private ceremony in Las Vegas on July 17, 2022. It also coincides with the second anniversary of their second wedding ceremony, which they held in Affleck’s Georgia estate in front of family and friends.

The “Atlas” actress’s decision to wait till the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding ceremony before filing to divorce Affleck has set tongues wagging about her alleged motive to clap back at him.

However, Lopez’s shock divorce filing reportedly didn’t blindside Affleck.

Explaining the actor’s cunning strategy, an insider said, “Jennifer said she was tired of being humiliated by Ben, and she waited until the two-year anniversary because she wanted to sting.”

“But it did not sting him,” they added. “He’s been done for a long time and deep down she knows this. He let her have this so that she wouldn’t look like the villain.”

Another source told People magazine that Lopez decided to end things with Affleck after she reached a breaking point.

The divorce filing stated the date of their separation as April 26, 2024, with the insider telling the news outlet that she decided to call it quits because she “was done waiting.”

“She tried really hard to make things work and is heartbroken,” the insider said. “The kids are a top priority, as they always have been.”

According to TMZ, Lopez filed for divorce “pro per,” which means she filed the lawsuit “in her own person” without the aid of an attorney.

The insider went further to reveal that the “Hustlers” actress is prepared to “move on” from her troubled marriage with Affleck, who was said to have stalled on divorcing her because he wanted to “protect” her from further embarrassment.

“She’s very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn’t given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage,” the source said.

The pair first dated for several years in the early 2000s after meeting on the set of the “Gigli” movie. They subsequently got engaged but called off their relationship in 2004 due to a reported inconvenience with the public attention on them.

According to Page Six, the couple’s “amicable” divorce has seemingly not hurt their blended family as a source disclosed that their children are “coping fine” and are “ready to move on” from the split.

“His kids are taking it fine as are hers. Everybody is ready to move on,” the insider told the news outlet.

Both parents were very close to each other’s children, with Affleck’s daughter, Violet, once showing support for her famous stepmom by donning a D&G dress Lopez wore on a date with Affleck.

Reports claimed that the 18-year-old was doing her best to prevent the pair from ending their two-year marriage.
