The Hollywood rumor mill has ramped up production in recent weeks thanks to murmurings concerning a growing rift between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, and the actress declined to put things to rest while firing back at a reporter who raised the issue during a recent press conference.
It’s been around three years since Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck rekindled a relationship that took the world by storm when they became the power couple dubbed “Bennifer” in the early 2000s before calling it quits after a couple of years.
The reunited duo announced their engagement in 2022 before tying the knot in a private ceremony a few months later, but it sounds like things have started to go south based on the stream of reports we’ve been treated to concerning a growing amount of friction.
Earlier this month, an anonymous source claimed the couple was heading toward a divorce thanks in no small part to Affleck’s disdain for the amount of media attention their relationship has generated (another claims the actor has been unable to satisfy her needs).
Those rumors have led to people overanalyzing Lopez’s social media activity and using paparazzi photos to draw sweeping conclusions about the current state of affairs while both she and Affleck remain quiet about the supposedly deteriorating situation.
That remained the case on Wednesday when Lopez sat down with Simu Liu for a media panel to promote the new Netflix movie Atlas that took an incredibly awkward turn when a reporter in the audience decided to ask her to confirm that rumors of an impending divorce with Affleck are real.
The man who floated the question was roundly booed before Liu firmly stated “OK, we’re not doing that” and Lopez stared the guy down and uttered, “You know better than that.”
That certainly won’t do much to put the speculation to rest.
