A former McDonald’s chef has revealed why their Coca-Cola tastes better than any other version of it that you’d normally drink.
For years, McDonald’s customers have been trying to figure out why their Coke tastes better than anything you’d get out of a can, bottle, or from another restaurant. Is there an exclusive formula? Is it something to do with the wait time? Or is it all a placebo?
There have been different answers over the years. The Golden Arches have always maintained that they don’t have any real secret sauce, and that they use the same formula as everyone else. Though, it is a little chillier than when you get a Coke from elsewhere.
Another idea has been to do with how it’s served to customers. Sure, an extra bit of chill might help, but that isn’t all it takes, apparently.
McDonalds’ use bigger straws for better tasting drinks
According to former McDonald’s chef Mike Haracz, the big secret around the Coke tasting better is to do with their straws. Seriously.
Haracz, who has built up a massive social media following by revealing some of the restaurant’s biggest secrets, told Delish that the straws are bigger than normal.
This, according to the former chef, makes your sip “inherently more flavorful,” than anywhere else.
The straw size is something that has been speculated on previously too, which many comparisons being made by inquisitive customers.
McDonald’s has noted that they are “slightly wider than a typical straw,” so “all that Coke taste can hit your taste buds.”
Another big secret? The syrup is delivered to McDonald’s stores differently than anywhere else. They have had a partnership with Coca-Cola since the 50s, and Coke is delivered to restraunts in chilled metal tanks. This isn’t the case for everyone.
