Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green has been diagnosed with stage four cancer. The news came from the musician’s mother.
“Please send healing vibes for my son, Jeremiah Green, who is battling stage 4 cancer,” the post reads. “He is so strong and so brave and hanging in there!” Following the announcement being picked up over the Christmas weekend, Modest Mouse shared the news on their Instagram page with a statement.
“Some of you may have already heard, but I figured it would be good to hear the news directly from our camp,” the post begins. “Jeremiah was diagnosed with cancer a short while ago, and he’s currently in treatment. It seems to be going smoothly and making a positive difference. Jeremiah, as am I, are believers in the power of positive energy, so if you would be so kind as to send ‘good vibes’ (to quote Jeremiah) in the direction of Jeremiah and his family, that’d be great. Thank you and love, Isaac Brock,” the statement continues.
DJ Marco Collins also commented on the diagnosis after sharing Green wouldn’t be performing in the band’s upcoming tour. “Just found out my friend Jeremiah Green has pulled off the band’s tour because he is currently undergoing chemo treatments to battle stage 4 cancer,” his post on Facebook reads.
“Despite having a stage 4 diagnosis, his prognosis is good! Also his oncologist is a big MM fan so he’s got that in his corner,” Collins continues. Following the news, several Modest Mouse fans took to Facebook and Instagram to share their good vibes and well wishes for Green.
“Sending good vibes here. I saw you guys down in Louisville in the early 2000s with some friends. Amazing show Jeremiah was great to see play live,” comments one fan.
“Sending you all the good vibes, Jeremiah. You’ve done so much for so many with your commitment to making meaningful music. Hope this little detour is filled with profound insights and good medicine. Stay strong,” reads another comment on Instagram.
