The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Anthony Morina is out as the show’s co-executive producer. According to Daytime Confidential’s sources, Morina was fired from his position, so that means Head Writer and Co-Executive Producer Josh Griffith is now the only remaining showrunner.
Morina rose to the co-executive producer spot back in 2018 – followed by Griffith scoring a co-EP credit starting in 2019.
Now that Morina has been let go from the co-EP role, it’ll be interesting to see if other shakeups happen behind the scenes.
This could be the start of things steering in a new direction since Morina’s influence will no longer be felt.
Griffith could be given more freedom for his own vision, though it’s also possible another replacement could be in the works.
Regardless, it’s big news when a top exec is stripped of control. Social media has certainly been buzzing about Anthony Morina getting the boot from his co-EP job, so we’ll pass along updates as more details emerge.
In the meantime, there’s much more drama to look forward to in Genoa City.
Bombs will keep dropping no matter who’s in charge, so that’s something fans can count on.
The Abbott family will remain in crisis thanks to Diane Jenkins’ (Susan Walters) enemies and Tucker McCall’s (Trevor St. John) pot-stirring.
The Newmans also have additional turmoil in store thanks to some brewing threats and complicated matters of the heart.
Y&R has some Christmas curveballs ahead – and then some New Year’s Eve shockers will be just around the corner.
The show plans to finish off 2022 strong and hopefully set the stage for some exciting shakeups in 2023.
