What would you do if you could access another world? And, no, I don’t mean blazing through the sky in the TARDIS to other inhabited planets… Although that would be beyond amazing. I mean a deserted planet that only you seemingly have access to from a secret chamber. Would you tell anyone about it? How often would you visit? How much would you explore this new realm? Your answers may vary, but an upcoming series will ponder this possibility. Night Sky, formerly known as Lightyears, will have a late Spring premiere date on Prime Video, dropping episodes on May 20. And it seems to have all the makings of an intriguing sci-fi adventure into time and space.
Here’s Night Years’ plot: Irene (Sissy Spacek) and Franklin York (J.K. Simmons) are a couple with quite the secret. Years prior, they discovered a chamber in their backyard that leads to a deserted planet. They’ve kept this secret for many years, but a guy (Chai Hansen) comes into their lives and stirs things up. The Yorks’ chill life goes in a vastly different direction when they realize that this chamber holds wonders (and maybe horrors?) that are bigger than they thought. We love J.K. Simmons, especially as Marvel’s J. Jonah Jameson and Sissy Spacek is an acting legend as well, so they will certainly deliver in Night Sky. And we can only imagine the epic portals that the show will reveal to take us far beyond Earth. Let’s see what happens once Night Sky’s premiere date arrives.
Night Sky, a co-production of Amazon Studios and Legendary Television, will drop all eight episodes on Prime Video for your marathon watching pleasure. Holden Miller does double duty as the show’s writer and co-executive producer, alongside Daniel C. Connolly, the showrunner and executive producer. Jimmy Miller, Sam Hansen, and Philip Martin are also executive producers.
