Actress Soha Ali Khan, best known for her role in Rang De Basanti, is getting through some some Monday blues. And she’s enjoying a beach day to get through it. Khan posted a photo on Instagram of herself in the water, with the city behind her. She wore a blue patterned one piece swimsuit and sunglasses, and put her dark hair in a ponytail. Khan has one child, and she says that she kept up her healthy lifestyle while she was pregnant. The actress revealed in an interview with NDTV Food that she made sure to exercise and eat healthy while she was pregnant, and encourages other to do the same. “Pregnancy requires a lot of energy along with staying active, which is why I made sure I practiced Yoga and practised mindful snacking throughout. For expecting mothers – my advice is – be sure to include wholesome foods that are rich in nutrients such as fruits, dairy products, nuts like almonds, which provide energy and adds a host of nutrients like protein, iron, vitamin E, folate, zinc, copper etc. which will add to your overall health. And make sure to stay hydrated!”
When it comes to snacks, Khan tells NDTV Food that she’s not opposed to it. However, she says that she prefers to snack on healthy options, and cites almonds as a favorite. “It’s all right to snack through the day, but as long as it’s on healthy and nutritious foods. Often, we overindulge in unwholesome snacks then worry about gaining weight, hence I prefer opting for wholesome snacks such as fruits or almonds are known to provide energy and have satiating properties that promote feelings of fullness, which further helps in keeping my hunger at bay. Besides that, almonds are easy to flavor and can be mixed with any Indian spices and can be consumed throughout the day which makes them a good choice for snacking without worrying about weight gain.”
Khan broke down what she typically eats in a day to NDTV Food. She says that she keeps all three of her meals as healthy as she possibly can. “For breakfast, I usually eat a Dosa or an omelette with fresh fruits and a gluten-free toast with honey. For lunch, I like to eat chicken or fish with some dal, vegetables, and brown rice or roti. I end the day on a light note and usually have a salad with lots of vegetables, almonds, and herbs drizzled with a citrus dressing.”
When it comes to food, Khan says that she doesn’t believe in following fad diets or restricting herself too much. She says that she just focuses on eating healthy and working out on a consistent basis. “I am not an avid follower of diets,” she told NDTV Food. “I usually practice healthy eating and include a lot of nutritious foods in my diet, along with daily exercise.”
When it comes to working out, Khan doesn’t always need to go to a gym. She likes to workout at home, and her routine is no joke. Khan posted this video on Instagram showing her followers what her typical at-home full-body workout routine is like. In the video, she is seen doing squats with weights, candlesticks to situps, and goes under a clothesline with a reach and weights. She captioned the video, “Try it Tuesdays.”
