Harry Styles has officially postponed three Los Angeles concerts after coming down with the flu.
The 28-year-old informed fans of the postponed stops – originally scheduled for November 5th, 6th, and 7th – on Instagram. Having kicked off the long-running Love On Tour back in September of 2021, Harry Styles is scheduled to complete five remaining LA gigs (starting this Wednesday) before touring Latin America into mid-December.
Predictably, given this rather crowded schedule – the One Direction alum is likewise set to head to Oceania and Europe in 2023 – the November 5th, 6th, and 7th performances have been rebooked for 2023.
Ticketholders interested in making the shows (as opposed to ditching the passes and trying to attend another of Styles’ LA outings this week) will have to plan around new dates of January 26th, 27th, and 29th, respectively, the one-time Grammy winner Styles disclosed in his message to fans.
“Towards the end of the show on Wednesday I started feeling ill and I’ve been in bed with the flu ever since,” Harry Styles wrote shortly before the first of the ultimately postponed gigs was expected to begin. “I’ve been doing everything I can to be able to sing tonight, but I’m leaving the doctor now and I’m devastated that it’s just not possible.
“Until very recently I haven’t had to postpone a show due to illness in the 12 years I’ve been touring,” continued Styles, referring to a Chicago concert that he rescheduled “due to band/crew illness” one month ago. “I’m so sorry to do it, and if there was anyway I could do the show I would.
“I’m sorry this news is coming so close to show time, but it was my sincerest hope to be able to play for you tonight. I know several of you have planned trips to LA to see the show, and it means the absolute world to me,” continued Styles.
On social media, fans of the “Music for a Sushi Restaurant” creator appear mostly supportive, with many individuals encouraging Styles to rest and focus on his health amid the marathon tour. More broadly, the postponed Harry Styles dates represent just some of the planned 2022 performances that have been disrupted by health concerns.
Justin Bieber officially pushed the Justice World Tour’s remaining stops into 2023 last month, for instance, while an injury prompted the cancellation of Rage Against the Machine’s North American tour, a “serious lung infection” compelled Coldplay to nix several Brazil concerts, and Shawn Mendes paused his live shows to focus on his mental wellbeing.
Beyond these health-related holdups, financial difficulties, reportedly soft ticket sales, global touring’s “ongoing uncertainties,” and the ultra-crowded live-entertainment arena have resulted in other cancellations and delays in 2022. Nevertheless, all manner of acts, Taylor Swift, Blink-182, Dead and Company, and Stevie Nicks/Billy Joel among them, are plotting tours of their own for 2023.
