Pete Davidson might be the latest celebrity to sign up for a flight to space.
The Saturday Night Live star is “in talks” with Jeff Bezos about accompanying him on a Blue Origin space flight, per CNN. The two reportedly discussed the idea when Davidson and Kim Kardashian dined with Bezos and his partner Lauren Sanchez at the Amazon founder’s L.A. home in January. Kris Jenner and Corey Gamble were also present.
Davidson’s ticket to space is still in the works and hasn’t been confirmed, with an insider telling CNN it could be a matter of weeks before an announcement is made. A Page Six source, meanwhile, said, “Pete is excited. They haven’t signed a contract yet, but it looks like it’s going to happen. The details are being finalized. He got on really well with Jeff when they met.”
An insider at People made it sound like things aren’t as far along, saying, “Pete Davidson is in talks with Jeff Bezos to go on the next Blue Origin ride but nothing is set yet. It’s just conversations. And it’s still early.”
According to CNN, Blue Origin’s suborbital flight travels 62 miles above the earth, which is seen as the edge of space. Bezos hopes to help pioneer space tourism and had a successful voyage last year, but billionaire Sir Richard Branson accomplished the feat first, taking a Virgin Galactic ship just nine days prior.
Bezos took William Shatner to space aboard a Blue Origin ship in October and Michael Strahan in December. Ashton Kutcher revealed last year that he had a ticket for a Virgin Galactic flight but Mila Kunis persuaded him to sell it. Virgin charges $450,000 and purchasers have to make a deposit of $150,000. It’s not publicly known how much Blue Origin tickets cost.
