Late on Tuesday night, it was reported that director Bassam Tariq had exited the project due to “continued shifts in our production schedule,” at least according to Marvel’s statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
“Due to continued shifts in our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of Blade but will remain an executive producer on the film. We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he’s done getting Blade to where it is,” Marvel’s statement rad.
Reports indicate that Marvel’s Blade is quite a mess as its director has exited the project and its star Mahershala Ali is reportedly “very frustrated” with the process
Then, following the news about Tariq, Jeff Snieder over at The Ankler dropped a bombshell that indicated two-time Academy Award winner and Blade star Mahershala Ali is “very frustrated with the process” of making the film.
Additionally, Snieder also reported that the script for Blade is just 90 pages long (the average length of a script is about 128 pages) and features *just two lackluster* action scenes.
Perhaps the most revealing part of Snieder’s insight, though, was that sources tell him Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is “spread too thin,” which certainly isn’t surprising considering the MCU’s blatant dip in quality over the last year or so (Black Widow, Eternals, and Thor 4 have all been some of their worst-reviewed movies yet).

To make matters worse is the fact that Blade — which also stars Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre — was set to begin production in just over a month. While Mahershala Ali’s Blad has yet to be properly introduced into the MCU, the character’s voice was heard speaking to Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman in one of the Eternals post-credit scenes.
