It’s been well over two decades since Christina Aguilera became a household name, but it’s been a few years since she’s been a tabloid fixture. It’s not that her career is over. It’s not. The problem is that she is just not as relevant as she’s gotten older, and it’s largely by choice (it’s not a bad thing, either). She keeps to herself more now than she ever has, and she’s not out and about nearly as often. She’s living her life, spending time with her family, and doing the things she didn’t have time for when she was at the height of her pop career. When Christina Aguilera’s LA Pride look made headlines, people did not think she’d be back in the press so soon. But why?
Christina Aguilera’s LA Pride Look
Christina Aguilera has the power to choose what she wants to do these days. She’s no longer a teenager hoping to make it to the top of her game. She’s made it to the top. She created a reputation for herself that’s second to none. She’s become famous. She’s paid her dues. Now, she has the power to show up when and where she wants, and she’s not looking for work. She’s made it. But, one important thing to her is the LA Pride event. Christina Aguilera’s LA Pride performance was a big deal. She came out to sing some of her most famous songs on stage in front of everyone supporting the Pride event.
What made headlines is not that she was on stage. She’s one of the most famous pop stars in the world. Of course, she’s on stage. What really made headlines was Christina Aguilera’s LA Pride outfit. She came out at one point to perform her hit song DIRRRTY, wearing a strap-on. It was just…there. Fans loved it. But, it isn’t exactly the most child-appropriate situation. Either way, the people there got a huge kick out of it, and she was happy to be there.
Why is Christina Aguilera in the News Again?
She’s back in the news, and this time for a different reason. When she was first famous, it was with a group of other people who also rose right to the top. Aguilera, along with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and a few other big-name pop stars, were all in the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse together when they were little. They also all rose to fame at the same time, and it was like a major reunion. Fans loved to pit Britney and Christina against one another as competition. However, they didn’t seem to give much to it in terms of starting rumors.
However, it seems Christina Aguilera is a woman who has made some decisions. That decision is to unfollow Britney Spears online after Spears made a comment she didn’t agree with. The woman who once heard Free Britney like it was her own personal motto posted a long message online, and it read (in part), “If I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers, I would have looked extremely small,” and it didn’t go over well. Aguilera immediately unfollowed. Fans of Britney expressed a lot of disappointment in the singer.
Britney Doesn’t Care
While many fans are waiting for Aguilera to comment (why? She doesn’t need to say anything), others are waiting for Britney to remove her post. However, Spears has made it very clear that she’s not been allowed to say anything or do anything without her father’s approval for most of her adult life, and she’s over it. She had to sit back for more than a decade while people said anything they wanted to say about her and offended her left and right. She’s over it, and she already admitted publicly that she doesn’t care who she offends. It doesn’t matter what Christina Aguilera says because it won’t affect Spears and her newfound freedom to say what she wants.
Is Britney Wrong?
It’s tough to say. She shouldn’t come after Aguilera’s dancers for the size and shape of their bodies, but she’s not wrong to have her opinion. Just because someone’s opinion is offensive or not ‘kind’ doesn’t make it wrong. The difference is that most people would make comments like that only to their spouse or best friend or just think about it without posting it online for millions to see. So, she’s not wrong to feel how she feels. Does she need to share all of her opinions? Probably not, but there’s no law saying she’s wrong to say how she feels. It’s just what it is.
