Brandi Carlile has announced on Sept. 28, the release day of her upcoming album In the Canyon Haze, she and her band will bring the project to life with a live performance broadcasted to IMAX Theaters.
On In the Canyon Haze, the American singer-songwriter and producer reimagines the songs featured on her 2021 album In These Silent Days through the vantage point of Laurel Canyon in LA. The film is entitled Brandi Carlile: In the Canyon Haze – Live from Laurel Canyon and will mark the first concert the Grammy award-winning artist will play all the songs on the LP live.
“I’ve made a terrifying and beautiful commitment to livestream a complete performance of my new project In the Canyon Haze to IMAX theatres across the country,” Carlile said in a statement. “The music and harmonies are complex and lush…anything could happen. You will hear these songs like you’ve never heard them before and I expect that it’ll be one of the most potent and welcome challenges of my career to bring this to you in such stark detail. Live is live. Rock and roll is a risk and I’m here for it!”
The film is directed by Sam Wrench and the concert will feature “some very special guests,” according to the Americana icon. It’s notable that Carlile’s wife, Catherine Carlile, appeared on the record’s first single, “You and Me on the Rock (In the Canyon Haze),” which was released last week, and it’s notable that her bandmates Phil and Tim Hanseroth produced In the Canyon Haze, which features a stunning cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.”
