Courteney Cox has delivered a playful response to the artist formerly known as Kanye West over a recent remark made in connection with the funniness level of the NBC comedy Friends, which was made the subject of an HBO Max reunion special last year.
For background here, as Ye fans already know, recent days have included a series of (largely deleted) Instagram posts from the artist amid issues with Adidas and Gap, not to mention family matters. In one since-removed post, Ye noted that a widely shared diarrhea-related post mimicking his IG style was fake. He also said a similarly viral-ized Friends remark wasn’t actually from him either.
“I know you guys gonna be disappointed but I actually didn’t write the [tweet] that said ‘Friends wasn’t funny either’ but I wish I had,” Ye said. “I’d love to know who thought of that.” Ye then went on to name off a few of his personal favorite comedians.
Cox used this all as inspiration for an IG post of her own, albeit with a caption that includes a misspelling once given lyrical grievance space on a Late Registration track. The Scream star’s clip sees her enjoying a listen of the 808s & Heartbreak single “Heartless,” although the track is quickly cut off when she reads the Friends-focused portion of Ye’s aforementioned IG clarification.

Though it was ultimately removed, Ye recently shared what was billed as an unfinished version of a new video campaign for YZY PROTO SHDZ. The glasses have been teased on the faces of a carefully curated variety of public figures as of late, including Kim Kardashian.
Cox, meanwhile, will soon be seen in the sixth entry in the Scream franchise, which slashed back to theaters after 10 years away with last year’s well-received revival.
