The Osbournes are making a return to reality TV with a new docu-series titled Home to Roost. The UK program will chronicle Ozzy and Sharon’s move from Los Angeles back to England, as well as other aspects of their lives.
Home to Roost is set to air in 2023 on BBC One and its VOD service iPlayer as a 10-part series of 30-minute episodes. The announcement comes 20 years after the family’s groundbreaking reality series The Osbournes first aired on MTV.
Per the BBC press release, like The Osbournes, Home to Roost will also document Sharon and Ozzy’s children Jack and Kelly. It appears that their more reclusive daughter, Aimee, has chosen to stay out of the spotlight, as she did with The Osbournes. A full description of the new docu-series reads as follows:
“Home to Roost will document Ozzy and Sharon’s journey back to Britain, alongside Kelly and Jack’s efforts to support them, as they attempt to re-start their lives in rural Buckinghamshire. The series will follow the Osbournes as they celebrate one of their most important years yet – with everything from Sharon’s 70th birthday to Kelly’s soon-to-be-born baby, Ozzy’s tour, and of course the big move itself. This will be a genuine portrait, showing Sharon and Ozzy as they face up to illness and the challenges of getting older, but with the usual Osbourne eccentricities, humour, warmth and love.”
As previously reported, Kelly Osbourne is expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Slipknot’s Sid Wilson. Jack, meanwhile, has three daughters with his ex-wife Lisa Stelly, in addition to a newborn daughter with his current girlfriend, Aree Gearhart.
Sharon and Ozzy originally stated that they were returning to England due to the high taxes in Los Angeles, but more recently said they were “fed up” with mass shootings in the United States, as well as the divisiveness of the country.
“Rejoining the Osbournes as they return to the UK is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” stated series creative directors Ben Wicks and Colin Barr. “Twenty years ago, they shaped television for all of us – now they’re coming home at a different stage in their lives but with the promise of the same laughter, love and tears.”
As of now, there’s no word on when and where Home to Roost will air in the States, but international rights are currently being negotiated.
Ozzy’s new album, Patient Number 9, is set to arrive on September 9th. While he hasn’t toured since 2018 due to his various health setbacks and the pandemic, he is currently scheduled to embark on a UK/Europe outing in the Spring of 2023.
