The New York Yankees just got upstaged by a pop star from Puerto Rico.
Bad Bunny delivered a fiery performance in Yankee Stadium on Sunday, for a remote segment that aired during the 2022 VMAs. The singer’s performance of his hit song “Tití Me Preguntó” was especially notable after he kissed one of his male backup dancers live on stage. It should be noted that he kissed a female backup dancer as well.
The performance unfolded shortly after the chart-topping superstar was handed the Artist of the Year trophy from former New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony.
Sunday marked just another major moment in what has been a banner year for the singer. His latest album, Un Verano Sin Ti, has been breaking all kinds of records for the better part of three months, solidifying Bad Bunny’s place atop the pop music hierarchy.
As for that kiss, it’s already provoking a reaction online.
And while Bad Bunny has never openly discussed his sexuality in an overt way, he’s considered by some to be a queer icon. In a 2020 interview with Rolling Stone, Ricky Martin called him an “an icon for the Latin queer community.”
