Anne Heche‘s ex-husband Coleman ‘Coley’ Laffoon has spoken up following her death!
The real estate broker, who was married to the late star for six years, has vowed to look after their 20-year-old son Homer in her absence. The “Another World” actress passed away on August 12, one week after she obtained severe burns from crashing her car into a Los Angeles home.
Coley Laffoon Promises To Look After Homer Following His Mother’s Death
Although Laffoon was married to Heche from 2001 until 2009, the duo maintained a cordial relationship after the divorce. Thus, the news of Heche’s passing hit him deeply as he appeared heartbroken in a video he shared on Instagram. He began the emotional clip, stating:
“In the wake of Anne’s passing, I just wanted to say a few things. One, I loved her and I miss her and I’m always going to. Two, Homer is okay. He’s grieving, of course, and it’s rough.”
Luckily, the 20-year-old is “surrounded by family, and he’s strong, and he’s going to be okay.” After appreciating people who have been checking in, showing their hearts, and offering prayers, “The Dead Will Tell” actor paid tribute to the “brave and fearless” actress, hoping that she was “free from pain” after her death. The 48-year-old concluded by saying:
“Goodbye, Anne. Love you. Thank you. Thank you for all the good times. There were so many. See you on the other side. In the meantime, I got our son. He’ll be fine. Love you.”
The father-of-three subsequently uploaded a decades-old photo of Heche holding their son, who was a toddler at the time. The “Six Days, Seven Nights” actress looked happy as she gazed down at Homer with a massive smile on her face. In the caption, Laffoon wrote, “It’s important to remember the real love in the best times. Thank you, Anne. Peace on your journey.”
Laffoon did not stop there as he reposted a picture of a child writing a note to Heche on his Instagram Story. All posts caused fans to drop lovely messages for the grieving ex-husband and his family, with many sending them “love, light & prayers.”
The outpour of love has gotten stronger since The Blast reported that Heche passed away after she entered a coma caused by a car accident on August 5. Soon after her family released a statement acknowledging the 53-year-old actress’s low chance of surviving the catastrophic brain injury she suffered, they pulled her off life support.
Turning off the life support was done after doctors determined which organs were viable for donation. Before she died, law enforcement officials had said that Heche was under investigation for felony DUI after they discovered that drugs were in her system at the time of the car crash.
Loved Ones Send In Their Tributes Following The “The Best Of Enemies” Star’s Passing
The “A Simple Twist of Fate” star’s best friend Nancy Davis has led other stars in sending their posthumous tributes, per The Blast. Along with multiple pictures of herself and Heche at various events, Davis wrote:
“Heaven has a new Angel . My loving , kind , fun , endearing and beautiful friend @anneheche went to heaven. I will miss her terribly and cherish all the beautiful memories we have shared.”
Davis went on to gush about Heche’s kindness, support, talent, and creativity. She finished her caption with emojis and hashtags – #heavenhasanewangel and #heavenhasanotherangel.
Next came a tribute from James Tupper, who dated Heche from 2007 to 2018 after they met on the set of her ABC show, “Men In Trees,” in 2006. The pair welcomed a 13-year-old son, Atlas, during their relationship. The “Nothing Left to Fear” actor uploaded a grainy photo of the actress with a simple yet touching “love you forever [broken heart emoji]” caption to his Instagram.
TV personality Ellen DeGeneres, another ex of Heche’s, chimed in with a tweet that read, “This is a sad day. I’m sending Anne’s children, family, and friends all of my love.” Other stars like Alec Baldwin, actress Laura Wright, Dedee Pfeiffer, and actor Stephen Kunken, to name a few, have shared their love and prayers for the family of the “13 Minutes” star.
