One person was killed and more than a dozen others were injured after a stage collapsed at Medusa Festival in Valencia, Spain on Saturday.
High winds exceeding more than 50 mph reportedly caused a partial collapse of the festival’s main stage, according to Reuters. “At around four in the morning unexpected and violent strong winds destroyed certain areas of the festival, forcing management to make the immediate decision to vacate the concert area to guarantee the safety of attendees, workers and artists,” festival organizers said in a statement.
Among those injured, three suffered serious trauma injuries and 14 others had minor injuries.
The remainder of Medusa Festival has been canceled in light of the tragedy. The six-day electronic music event, which took place on a beach in Valencia, featured a lineup including David Guetta, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, Carl Cox, Timmy Trumpet, and more.
