Top Dawg Entertainment rapper Reason has teamed up with west coast icon The Game for his new G-Funk inspired track, “Impalas & Hydraulics.”
The single comes as Reason continues to work on his highly-anticipated second studio album, reiterating why the 31-year-old rapper was able to grab the attention of TDE. Over a hard-hitting drum loop and eerie synths, Game and Reason proudly represent California’s vibrant hip-hop history on the track.
“This song is the west coast that I grew in. Everything that encompasses that, low riders, dickies, vatos, I grew up in that,” said Reason upon sharing the new track. “Game was the perfect person to add because when I think of that time he encompassed all of those things! He heard it and immediately knew what direction to go and it fit.”
”Impalas & Hydraulics” is Reason’s first new single since he released his No More, No Less: Demo 1 EP last year. The EP featured appearances from Benny the Butcher, Wale, ADE. Doe Boy, and his labelmates Isaiah Rashad and Zacari. Upon sharing the project, which he described as “a small collection of thoughts that fans have been asking me for,” he apologized to fans waiting patiently for his next big release. He’s yet to announce when we can expect to hear the follow-up to his debut studio album, New Beginnings, but it’s clear that he’s got something cooking up.
