The Batman: Part II has officially entered pre-production after numerous delays caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike and writer/director Matt Reeves’ commitment to a perfect script. With Reeves announcing last month that the screenplay is complete, new rumors have it that the sequel will introduce Robin alongside Robert Pattinson’s Batman.
The report comes from Jeff Sneider’s The Insneider, who claims “a well-placed source” revealed Robin is in Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin’s script. The source also said the screenwriters were taking a “big swing” with the sequel, and that the script was “worth the wait.”
We’ll see if the Boy Wonder joins the Caped Crusader in the DC Elseworlds project (ie, a DC Studios production that is not part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s “main,” interconnected DC Universe) when The Batman: Part II finally arrives on October 1st, 2027. Pattison will return as Batman, with Colin Farrell (The Penguin), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth), and Jeffrey Wright (Jim Gordon) all expected to return. Although unconfirmed, Zoë Kravtiz and Barry Keoghan are likely to reprise their respective roles as Catwoman and The Joker.

Meanwhile, Gunn has begun work on the next movie in the “Super-Family” following the success of Superman and the upcoming Supergirl. The first chapter of the newly relaunched DC Universe, “Gods and Monsters,” is also set to feature its own Batman and Robin movie, with The Brave and the Bold announced to include the Damian version of the sidekick. Damian is Bruce Wayne’s previously unknown biological son, whom Gunn described as “a little son of a bitch,” an “assassin” and a “murderer.”
